How to Keep Avocados from Browning
Finding out that fresh avocado you cut earlier has turned brown can be pretty disappointing. With so many tips and tricks on how to store cut avocado, which ones are the best? So nice to know that avocado freezes well. I buy as many as 15 avos at a time. They are hard and I leave them on my kitchen counter for several days, until they just begin to soften. Then I put them in the frig crisper. They usually stay perfect for about 2 – 3 weeks. However, my last batch started to get a bit too soft. That brought me to the idea of freezing them. So, I took 8 avos and removed the seed and skin and I placed them in a large mixing bowl. I used a potato masher to consolidate. Then I used plastic wrap, cut into about a foot square. Then I scooped about the amount of 1 avo into the center and shaped it about 4 x 4 x 3/4 inch. Then I basted it with fresh lemon juice. And when I wrapped it, the avo was air tight. I made eight of these and placed them stacked in the freezer, to take out one at a time.
